Dog urine pads are a good idea, especially if you want to protect your furniture and floor! There is nothing more damaging to a floor and furniture that pet urine. Puppy training pads were specifically designed to protect floors and furniture from pet urine.

Puppy training pads or dog training pads are well known by many puppy and adult dog owners, some owners don't prefer them and others couldn't imagine living without them. It depends entirely upon your schedule and if you have the time to take your pet outside to go to the bathroom. Dog training pads have to be introduced to your dog gradually. The best way to get your dog to use the training pads is with time and patience. After a week or so of showing your dog or puppy the training pad they will begin to pick up the idea you are stressing.

Dog's and puppies both can understand body language very well, your dog can read you especially well when you are getting angry with them just by the tone in your voice. Although some dogs just will never understand and rather then doing their duty on the puppy pads they decide to treat the pad like a toy and tear it up or eat it.

There are a number of different puppy training pad products available online and most common name brands are, Pet Gold, Clean Go and Out, there are many others as well. Like everything else, you get what you pay for and puppy training pads are no different so don’t be tempted by a very cheap pad that doesn’t have a good capacity to absorb the liquid from your pet.
The most common problem with cheap generic puppy training pads is tracking, and leaking. Most people get annoyed with the problem or get upset and give up on training pads altogether. It is not necessary to deprive yourself and your pet the advantages of puppy training pads because of leaking, if you have to use the cheap generic pads you will need a puppy pad tray to stop the liquid from seeping to the floor. A puppy pad tray really does a great job at protecting your floors when the pads leak.

Most puppies will break the habit of using there indoor training pads when they get to be around three months old, it's not really suggested to use training pads if your dog is a large breed, however, older dogs will use them. The best way to teach an older dog to use training pads is to leave them with no alternative, and with persistence and patience they to will make use of the dog training pads. If you have a large house, you may want to place pads in several areas of the house or confine the dog to a specific portion of the house.

Puppy training pads have great benefits such as, they make a very easy clean up, most are scented to encourage your pet them to eliminate in a specific area. Most pads have a scientifically treated with an attractant to encourage pets to pee on the pad. Gone are the days of using newspaper and magazines for your dog. Pads are much more efficient and a lot less mess.

Sometimes the fun of training a new puppy can be interrupted when you have to leave the house for extended periods of time, such as to go to work. While you are at work your puppy won't have anyone available to take him outdoors to use the bathroom so he will have to pee inside the house.
The best way to deal with providing a place for your dog to go to the bathroom while you are away is to use some dog potty grass pads.

Housebreaking your dog builds off of your dog’s natural instinct to keep his living space clean. This is why one of the first areas dogs learn to keep clean is their crate, usually followed by the rooms in your home where he spends the most time (kitchen, living room, etc.).

So why does your dog sometimes have accidents in a certain spot in the house? Usually, the accidents will happen in areas of the house where he doesn’t spend much time, such as, the formal dining room, guest room or garage. Since he doesn’t spend much time there, he may not feel like it is part of his home and think it is ok to use that area as a bathroom. In your dog’s mind, this spot is “other than where he lives” and therefore is about the same as eliminating outside. If you are housebreaking a puppy you could put wee wee pads in areas of the house where the puppy rarely goes, wee wee, or training pads will catch the dogs accidents making them easier to clean-up.

The important thing to understand about how your dog thinks is that he will tend to go to the bathroom in an area of the house that he doesn’t associate with his living area. One way to correct that in the mind of your dog is to spend lots of time in the less traveled area in your house with your pet, so your dog will feel like he does live there and will want to keep it clean.

Of course, be sure to clean the spot thoroughly with an odor neutralizer so your dog is not attracted to the spot due to old smells.

By taking steps to make your dog feel like he lives in all areas of your home, supervising him, practicing obedience and praising outdoor eliminating, you can prevent housebreaking problems so you’ll be able to trust and enjoy your pet much more.

A dog patio toilet-The Porch Potty is an easy to use, self-cleaning dog potty box. With the Porch Potty you no longer have to buy expensive wee wee pads for your dog and have to deal with throwing them away after they are used.

Whether you have a yard or not your dog will be able to go to the bathroom on the grass in the Porch Potty just like he would on a lawn without damaging the grass on an actual lawn. Just put a Porch Potty on your balcony or porch where it is close for your dog to get at and introduce the new potty to your dog.
For the purposes of training your dog to use the porch potty there is training sod that you can get to first train your dog with, since it will be real grass and smell like it your dog will naturally be attracted to it. Once you have your dog trained to use the indoor potty you can switch to a synthetic grass for permanent use. The synthetic grass is designed to last a long time so you don’t have to worry about keeping actual grass green the synthetic grass stays green and even smells like real grass.
No matter where you live, in a house or apartment you will have the convenience of not having to take your dog out at all hours, especially at night when it could be dangerous or bad weather. You simply bring the potty to your dog without having to bring the dog to the outdoors to use the bathroom.

Clean up is easy and fast with the Porch Potty, after the dog has used the “potty” just rinse the grass with a watering can to flush any doggy tinkle down the drain hose and that’s it. There is nothing to lift or carry so there is no risk of spilling anything in the house.

Housebreaking your puppy is an important aspect of puppy training and the most difficult one too! Most of new dog owners try to housebreak their puppy in a big hurry and that is a mistake because potty training your dog cannot be rushed. But housebreaking a puppy is actually a tough task and a challenging aspect of the dog or puppy training process. With a bit of patience and lot of understanding by you, you can readily ensure that your dog ownership will also be a successful and pleasing experience. The duration of time that is needed to housebreak a puppy, is entirely dependent on your dogs breed and his temperament, and genetics. You will need to be very patient while carrying out this difficult task of potty training your puppy. More often than not, it is very difficult to control bowel and bladder movements of a young puppy. Meaningful house-training will help your dog control bowel and bladder movements. The secret of housebreaking is essentially consistency and repetition of various training actions. All dogs could be housebroken provided you show enough patience and dedication towards this cause.
General Hints:
Here some of the most basic principles and guidelines that you must follow
without fail:
Tip #1: The aspect of positive reinforcement is a critical aspect of the entire training. Whenever your dog performs his basic duties and tasks with success, praise him lavishly and give him a small treat.
The dog will get confused if you punish him after the act because he won't know what to related the punishment to. Tip #2: Punish the dog when he has failed in his duties to perform the task you have assigned for him. You need to let him know at the time he messes up that he has messed up and never punish him after the act.

Tip #3: Make it a point to take your dog for a short walk soon after a meal or nap, those are the most likely times he will need to go to the bathroom.
Tip #4: Create a feeding schedule and stick to that schedule without fail your dog will be happier with a schedule since they are creatures of habit.
Tip #5: Never leave the feeding utensils near the dog’s room except during the feeding time.
Tip #6: Get to know those doggy signals! Learn to recognize their invisible signals and actions. For example, many dogs will sniff the floor and walk in circles when they need to go out. The most critical aspect of the housebreaking procedure is to teach your puppy the place where he is supposed to eliminate feces and urinate. When you set and adapt some important basic rules and regulations, your dog will immensely benefit from them because they depend on structure.
//-->

You can also maintain clean hygiene and cleanliness within your house and surroundings. As a pack animal, your dog is expected to listen and respond to instructions from its pack leader.

Here are some more tips that will help you to housebreak your dog:
Tip: Use a crate while housebreaking your dog. Crates are not tools to punish your puppy. The main objective is to make this crate a sleeping and resting place for your puppy. A crate is a small cage just enough for your dog to more around freely without any hindrance. It will have a locking door and bars that allow your dog to have an unhindered view. Check that your dog is never confined for more than 3 hours at a stretch.

You may be surprised to know that your dog will never soil his crate, unless you
have locked him for an unbearably long time. All new puppies need to eliminate every 4 hours, so be certain that you make yourself free to take him out during these time intervals. The puppy's age when you should begin housebreaking is when they are 8 to 12weeks in age. create this tight schedule, you can rest assured of a perfect housebreaking experience.
Use the same route while you lead your puppy out of the house; this will make him accustomed to the ritual of going out in the future through the same route.
Draw a time chart and use this chart without fail. The main objective of housebreaking is to set up a strict routine, so that your dog will know how to recognize and adhere to that schedule.
If you have a dog that roams around the house freely, keep looking out for telltale signals like sniffing and circling that will help you know to take him out before he starts eliminating in the house. If you see that your dog is eliminating inside the house, reprimand him with a stern NO and stop him by holding the collar. Take him out immediately and let him finish the job. Praise him lavishly by calling his name.
Make a habit of urgency in your puppy’s attitude by saying words like “fast” or “hurry up” while he is eliminating. This will act as trigger words for the dog to obey your commands.
When you provide regular and stern commands while housebreaking, they will remain permanently etched in your puppy’s brain.
Use a deep and strong voice while training your puppy. Puppy must know that you really mean business and are absolutely serious. Your dog will start noticing subtle differences in your voice and a slight variation will
allow him to recognize your needs.
When praising him, make sure that you’re using a high tenor, happy voice that incorporates his name several times, a dog readily recognizes his name when it is mentioned.

Are you having your hands full in getting your dog to quit performing the aria every night? Are you trying to teach your dog the basic aspects of ‘potty training’ and getting nowhere? Does your dog think that he is the master of you? As silly as the last question may seem, unfortunately it happens to be the case more often than not. If you are facing a few behavioral issues with your dog/pup, perhaps it is time to consult an expert of two. I do not mean the doggy school for the only thing that came out of sending my pup to one was an expensive bill. I am talking about the ‘secrets to dog training: stop dog behavior problems’.
Getting your dog to behave is not as easy as others may claim for it requires work as well as quite a bit of patience on your part. You need to understand that he is as confused as you are and is just trying to make sense of the silly rules that we humans tend to set from time to time. Just remember, that your dog may just be marking his territory if he pees on your brand new futon. You need to be able to communicate with your dog and you definitely need to stop ‘babying’ him, otherwise he is never going to learn what is right and what is wrong. Remember, hitting him on the nose with your newspaper is not going to achieve anything; there are much better ways to get your point across. One of the best, at least in my opinion happens to be ‘total ignorance’. Believe me; you will be surprised how effective this method can be in getting the point across. Basically, Dogs are very sensitive and tend to pick on any vibes that you may send out, furthermore, they yearn for your attention. So the minute you start ignoring them, giving them the silent treatment, they will realize that something is wrong. This just happens to be one of the teaching tools that you can use to get your dog to behave, there are quite a few more contained in the ‘secrets to dog training: stop dog behavior problems’.

After having several puppies over the years I always had to corral them in a tiled bathroom while I was at work to keep them from peeing on the carpet. That was always a problem for me to lock them in the bathroom all day but I had no choice at that time, but now with puppy training pads and housebreaking toilets for puppies it is much easier to train a puppy without having to lock them in the bathroom all day.
With a puppy toilet and some training pads the puppy can stay in a pen or large crate while they are being trained.
The piddle pads for dogs is not only for puppies as they can be used for incontinent older dogs as well.
With the puppy training pads a dog owner can have almost the same freedom that a cat owner has when they leave the cat home for hours on end unattended giving you freedom to work overtime if you have to or run just one more errand.
So if you are having challenges as to what to do with your puppy while you are working check out a puppy toilet and some discount puppy training pads, such as the Irregular Puppy Dog Training Wee Chux Pads.
Housebreaking Your Puppy

Housebreaking a new puppy can be one of the most frustrating parts of having a new puppy. If you have never trained a new puppy before you may benefit from these tips:

Tip1) Routine, just like training a child a puppy needs routine.
Puppies are easily confused so you must provide a consistent routine for them to get used to, such as:

Take him out the same door every time he has to "go potty". Always walk him to the same area to go to the bathroom and tell him in one word to “go.” Soon he will begin to connect the word with the action.

Learn when your puppy will most likely need to "go to the bathroom".

· First thing in the morning

· After a nap

· Right after eating or drinking

· During or after play times

· After being confined

· Right before going to bed

Your weekend and weekday routines should be the same for training your puppy, especially for housebreaking purposes. Keep a "housebreaking journal" so that you can get an overall picture of your puppy’s bathroom schedule and regularity of their urination and movements. Everyone in your household needs to follow the exact same routine. If one person says "out" when it's time to go outside, and someone else says "go potty", your puppy will get confused. With puppy training consistence is the key to success. Varying a puppy’s routine will increase the time it takes you to train your new puppy.

Remember to do the same thing at the same time everyday, and he'll quickly learn what is expected of him.

Time To "Go" for a bathroom break
Your puppy will do certain things when he needs to "go". Here's what to watch for:

· Sniffing and circling

· Stops playing or wanders off.

· Whining and wiggling when you're holding him

· Standing at the door

· If you see your puppy doing any of these things, take him outside right away.

Traditional Housebreaking
With traditional housebreaking, your puppy learns to "go" potty outside. Let your puppy sleep in a crate or kennel. It feels secure, like a "den". Puppies have small bladders. So you'll have to get up early in the morning to take him outside if you choose this method or you can get some doggy wee wee pads for an indoor doggy toilet and teach your puppy to use that as a bathroom during the night.

You can't and shouldn't leave your puppy in his kennel all day unless he has a indoor dog restroom of some sort. It is always a good idea to give your puppy some Chux underpads in case of a bathroom emergency.

It is not a good idea to confine your puppy in one room when you can't watch him.

Take your puppy out on a leash to his potty spot. Give your cue for him to ("Go potty!") and wait for him to do something. Praise him, reward him, and wait for him to "go" again. Puppies don't usually empty themselves right away. If you take him inside now, he'll have an accident in the house. When he "goes" again, praise him, reward him, and let him off leash to play. If you're taking a walk, wait until he finishes before you continue your walk.

Be generous with your rewards in the beginning. Offer verbal praise, petting, treats and play time whenever your puppy eliminates in the right place. Don't punish him for accidents he is just a puppy. If he "goes" in the house, clean it up with something containing an odor enzyme remover, such as "Nature's Miracle". I have been using Natures Miracle for years and it works great on all types of carpet. Don't use bleach or harsh chemicals. These can make your puppy very sick.
Other Options
What if you live in an apartment or have no yard? Consider paper training or using an indoor doggy toilet and doggy wee wee pads. The indoor dog toilet will prevent urine from getting on your floor and will be absorbed into the puppy wee wee pad instead. Follow the same housebreaking routine. But train your puppy to "go" on the doggy wee wee pad instead of outside on the grass. Nature's Miracle makes grass scented puppy pads to help with this type of training.

You can also train your puppy to use a litter box if necessary in a pinch, but the doggy wee wee pads are much more effective for dogs. Check out the Pet Patio Potty by Doggy Solutions or go to your local pet store for ideas.

Training your puppy to go on a doggy wee wee pad or in a litter box doesn't mean that he'll never learn to "go" outside. It simply offers you and your puppy another option when traditional housebreaking isn't possible.

Have patience. Be consistent with your training and routine, and your puppy will soon learn where he is allowed to "go" to the bathroom.
